Role & responsibilities :

PATIENT CARE

  • Overall planning of nursing care of the patient in the unit.
  • Maintaining cleanliness & sanitation of the unit.
  • Rendering direct care to seriously ill patients as & when situation arises.
  • Taking handover from the night shift in-charge.
  • Taking bed to bed rounds.
  • Supervising dietary arrangement & proper serving of diet.
  • Taking care of the health teaching programme to the patients & their relatives in her unit.
  • Co-ordinating patient care with other team members.
  • Assisting doctors at the time of their rounds.
  • Specially responsible for the care of acutely ill & seriously ill patients of the unit.

WARD ADMINISTRATION

  • Preparing duty roster of the staff nurses & student nurses.
  • Checking the attendance of all nurses of the unit.
  • Allocating the bed to the nurses of each shift.
  • Maintaining stock of equipment, medicines & linen.
  • Indenting for supplies required for the running of the unit.
  • Ensuring disposal of waste, prevention of misuse & loss of articles & medicine.
  • Reporting any case of indiscipline, theft or loss to the higher management.
  • Coordinating the orientation programme of the new staff, students & making arrangement for continuous on-the-job training.
  • Making arrangement for keeping patient belongings in a safe custody as per laid down policy of the hospital.
  • Supervising, guiding & directing the work of the nurses.
  • Maintaining daily census.
  • Coordinating with other departments for ease of operation.
  • Taking care of the practical part of the nursing training.
  • Assisting to organize health teaching programme for patients & their relatives.
  • Organize ward teaching programme for staff nurses & students.
  • Taking care of the in service classes & nursing research programmes.

  • Strives to develop good relations with other departments and ensures teamwork and co-operation amongst staff
  • Actively promotes practices that save company resources and minimize wastage
  • Willingness and initiative in acquiring knowledge, updating skills and technology or professional competency
  • Able to work under pressure and stressful situations while handling multiple tasks.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills; must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as communicate with tact, diplomacy, and a high level of cultural sensitivity
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
