Telecom Engineer - Permit Drafter

Magnasoft are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Permit Drafter to join our team. As a Fiber Permit Drafter, you will play a vital role in the planning and design of the FTTH and FTTN projects.

You will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed permit drawings which include state, county, and municipality roads either aerial or underground ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting the project manager. Your proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software, along with your understanding of telecommunications design principles, will be crucial in the successful delivery of the project.

Responsibilities:

1. High-Level Design/Low-Level Design: Having good knowledge of aerial and underground network architecture. Experience in analysing the field survey inputs and raising the query with the client for the missing data. Have hands-on experience in the construction drawing, PLA and MRE, BOM, BOQ, As-builts, and TCP.
2. Permit Drawing Preparation: Utilize AutoCAD or similar software to create precise and detailed permit drawings for FTTH, FTTP, and FTTN projects, including route plans, fiber optic cable layouts, splice diagrams, and other related documentation. You must be familiar with special permits like Bridges, Railroad crossings, River crossings, and Federal highway crossings.
3. Regulatory Compliance: Familiarize yourself with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to fiber optic networks and incorporate the necessary design elements to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
4. Tower Layout: Hands-on experience in designing telecom towers, foundations, and support structures considering structural integrity and load-bearing capacity. Strong knowledge of telecom infrastructure design, construction, and industry standards.
5. Collaboration with Engineering Team: Work closely with the engineering team to understand project requirements, technical specifications, and design standards, translating them into accurate permit drawings.
6. Design Review: Conduct thorough reviews of permit drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
7. Documentation Management: Maintain an organized system to track and manage permit drawings, revisions, and related documentation, ensuring easy retrieval and accessibility for future reference.
8. Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, project managers, and external stakeholders to gather project information, address design-related queries, and provide support throughout the permit acquisition process.
9. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, design best practices, and regulatory changes to enhance the quality and efficiency of permit drawing processes.

Qualification :

1. Education: A degree or diploma in Electronics and communications engineering is preferred. Equivalent work experience in drafting or telecommunications design will also be considered.

2. Drafting Experience: Proven experience in drafting for telecommunications or infrastructure projects, with a strong understanding of drafting principles, standards, and practices.

3. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar computer-aided design software is essential. Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and fiber network design tools is a plus.

4. Fiber Optic Knowledge: Basic understanding of fiber optic network design, components, and installation practices to create accurate permit drawings.

5. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness of permit drawings and adherence to design standards and regulatory requirements.

6. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, and project stakeholders.

7. Time Management: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to project timelines.

8. Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify design-related issues, propose solutions, and work collaboratively to resolve them.
