We are looking to hire a Packaging Development Manager in our Skin Cleansing team based in Mumbai:

Purpose

This role is within the Global Design packaging team and the person will be responsible for Design of the global packaging solutions for key brands in Skin cleansing and majorly for brand Lifebuoy.

This position will need to strongly interface with Brand Development, Supply Chain, Procurement, Product Development, Processing, Consumer technical Insight, consumer marketing insight team and the external packaging eco-system, in order to drive & deliver the packaging program. The position will get experience in building packaging roadmaps and will need to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple package development projects and prioritize tasks based on project timelines.

Main Responsibilities

·Lead packaging and ensure OTIF delivery of packaging development work for Global Skin Cleansing Category innovations and develop primary packaging designs to meet consumer and business needs

·Partner the R&D Lifebuoy TPLs to drive the Lifebuoy Packaging Strategy including USLP commitments

·Ensure OTIF delivery of the 5S and sustainability programs

·Develop packaging in accordance with the One Unilever Packaging Process (1UPP) and packaging strategy defined by Unilever.

·Build relationships with main key Suppliers through innovation or savings projects.

·Collaborate across functional team and packaging partners to develop a global mix and drive sustainability agenda, harmonisation program, cost savings and the technical development of new flexible packaging materials.

·Work on path breaking technologies to make our packaging recyclable, reusable and bring it into circular economy Support packaging capability programs on next generation packaging material solutions.

·Pro-active and engaged contributions to drive the flexible packaging agenda for skin cleansing

Key deliverables:

·Interpret the technical needs and determine the project network, required technical development tasks with strong packaging background and self-guidance. Lead the technical development activities on daily basis.

·Responsible to define and design the primary packaging for the agreed projects, considering technical input of key deployment countries, supplier capability and the cost targets

·Explore and develop radical ideas that will contribute to achieving Unilever’s sustainability ambitions and commitments

·Lead packaging design fit for purpose validation (consumer evaluation, packing testing, line trials, transit trial etc.)

·Conduct lab experiments to validate the packaging, including at supplier’s end.

·Use the relevant digital tools to capture data and validation purpose.

·Define and write global technical specifications, deliver the global transfer package and providing the sufficient technical support to the deployment teams

·Support the packaging technology program and work with cross category packaging partners to the developments of pack structures to be implemented in SCL category

·Support Packaging group leader in delivering key strategies defined and implement it in the projects.

·Being able to Verbally and in writing able to communicate internally and externally (supplier, agency, the rest of Unilever) with high quality via presentation and reports: all the technical work being delivered.

·Basic technical competence and packaging component knowledge and experience, in rigid, bottles, closures and full operational superior expertise in flexible packaging

·Strong communication, Influencing and presentation skills in English

·Role will require travel locally as well as globally around 10% of the time

Relevant Experience

·Bachelor or Master’s degree/ Diploma in a packaging or engineering or polymer material science related areas

·7-10 years in the packaging development preferably in the beauty and personal care industry experience

·Experience and expertise in flexible packaging and global project management will be an added advantage

·SAP PLM and Teamcenter/ActiveWorkspace experience a plus

·Solid technical background for PKG material and manufacturing process

·Proven ability to manage packaging related projects

·Must be able to communicate issues effectively to technical and non-technical personnel. (Brand, Finance, Creative, Manufacturing)
