Roles and Responsibilities

• Taking patient Endorsement from outgoing staff.
• Check Inventory both consumable, non consumable, crash cart, medications etc.
• Check for the allocation and then go to allocated patient and check for patients safety, Tidiness, Patients with IV's Invasive line, Foleys catheter for date and initials.
• Assess the patients condition and document in the nurse’s notes as soon as possible.
• Monitors vital signs & document in the concerned charts.
• Administer medication with a witness as per medication administration standard.
• Do rounds with treating physician and inform any information as required by the doctor about the patient.
• Assist patient in feeding , positioning and with all ADL's
• Perform any investigation or procedure requested by the doctor.
• Update unit in-charge about any change in the condition of the patient.
• Document all intervention done to the patient.
• Update activity chart and if any corporate patient and package patients inform concerned department persons.
• Enter in the system before sending any requests or indents to either pharmacy, Laboratory or Radiology.
• Participate in patient Education while caring for the patient including discharge planning and discharge education.
• Do admissions, transfer and discharge of patients as and when required and coordinate with concerned departments in order to achieve the best service to our patients.
• Before endorsing to incoming staff do re assessment of your patients and document and Endorse in full the care given, procedure done and condition of patient throughout your shift.
• Setting of ventilator circuit & care of ventilator patients
• CVP, Arterial catheter, UAC/ UVC monitoring & Measuring the ventilator parameter
• Blood investigations, sample collections, arterial lines, peripheral line management
• Practical knowledge of cardiac monitor, pulse oxy-meter, ECG & defibrillator.
• Suctioning – Oral & endo-tracheal, ( ETT, Tracheotomy)
• Maintaining device care bundle checklist.
• Assisting in invasive and diagnostic procedures Eg : ICD, biopsy , LP etc.
