Responsible for delivery of nursing care to patients within the assigned clinical area of the hospital. Such nursing care is an integral part of total patient care plan, as directed by the members of the medical staff, pursuant to the nursing standards and in keeping with generally accepted principles for the practice of professional nursing

Delivers nursing care according to the standards of care defined within the Department of Nursing.

1. 1. Determines the priority of data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs.
   2. Collects pertinent data using appropriate assessment techniques.
   3. Involves the patient, significant others, and health care providers in data collection when appropriate.
   4. Ensures that the data collection process is systematic and ongoing.
   5. Documents relevant data in the medical record according to hospital standards.

Analyses the assessment data in determining patient problems.

1. 1. Derives patient problems from the assessment data.
   2. Validates patient problems with the patient, significant others, and health care providers, when possible
